The wide range of printed and embroidered textiles at the Museum is a tribute to the artiste of womenfolk whose gentle hands have created fascinating patterns and designs expressing their dreams and aspirations. Their inborn talent is evident in the striking designs with richly ornamented motifs of bird, animals etc. Breathtaking Paithanis and Chandrakala from Maharashtra, gorgeous Parsi garos, rich Banarasi weaves, colourful Rabari garments from Kutch and Gujarat, ‘Kantha’ creations… the gallery of textiles preserves all these traditional Indian styles and motifs for posterity.
